Mature Gay Bear Men
Mature gay bear men, also referred to as Daddy bears, usually form part of the older gay bear community. They often indulge in social and sexual relationships with younger bears, called Cubs. Many were part of the original gay bear movement, and thus find the typical bear body; big, heavy-set, a stocky build, and hairiness, as indicative of true bear identity. Many older or mature bears tend to shun contact with some in the modern gay bear movement, which includes gay bears that do not conform to the ideal physical body type which many of the older bears value.
Some of the mature gay bears were instrumental in establishing the bear community as they felt that mainstream gay subculture, especially the gay communities within urban areas, did not welcome gay men with large and hairy bodies, Hence, many mature gay bears come from rural areas in North America, where the relative isolation from urban areas made them form stronger homosocial relationships with other bear members.
Mature gay bears tend to pride themselves mostly on their natural hairy and large bodily appearance, and prefer not to be associated with the feminized body types and mannerisms that are sometimes found in the mainstream, urban gay community.
